Actor Richard Gere and Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty will not face legal action over their public kiss at a charity event last month, an Indian Supreme Court has ruled.
Shetty was ordered to appear before a judge in Rajasthan yesterday morning after a warrant was issued for her arrest following the incident on 26th of April.
Gere and Shetty were speaking at a Hiv/Aids awareness event in New Delhi, when the Pretty Woman actor swept the beauty into his arms and kissed her several times.
Public displays of affection are taboo in India and arrest warrants were issued for both Gere and Shetty after a citizen filed a complaint, accusing the couple of committing an “obscene act”.

Richard Gere has apologised to the people of India for kissing Shilpa Shetty in public, according to reports.
Gere prompted outrage and an order for his arrest from a judge after groping the Celebrity Big Brother star at a recent Aids awareness event.
In a statement issued to his ‘friends in India’, the Pretty Woman star said: “It has never been, nor could it ever be, my intention to offend you.
“If that has happened, of course it is easy for me to offer a sincere apology.
That’s very sad that he has to apologize for kissing a woman on the cheek, don’t get me wrong i respect other countries ways but that is ridiculous.
