He says Opri said she was willing to represent him free of charge, because “the publicity from her representation of Plaintiff would greatly benefit Opri’s legal career.” Birkhead says shortly after hiring Opri, he did an interview with the MSNBC reporter who was asking questions about confidential documents she shouldn’t have had. Birkhead says Opri told him she had given the reporter the confidential info as “payback for the client referral.”Birkhead made a deal with NBC Universal for $1,050,000 to appear on various shows. The initial check to Birkhead was for $865,000. Birkhead says without his consent, Opri deposited the money in her client trust account. Indeed, Birkhead claims he “specifically advised Opri that she was not authorized to take control or possession of any of the funds…” Opri then turned over $200,000, leaving $665,000 in the trust account.

Behind the scenes, Opri and her agent, Babette Perry (who works at the IMG Agency) were negotiating the deal for Birkhead. NBC Universal agreed to pay Larry $1,050,000. Birkhead subsequently appeared on a Bravo special. He also repeatedly appeared exclusively on “Access Hollywood” and “Today.”But something weird happened after the check was cut. Although the money was negotiated for Birkhead, the first installment — $850,000 — ended up in Debra Opri’s client trust fund account. Sources say Opri refused to give Birkhead his money and that is precisely the reason Birkhead fired her.

Arthur has objected to a judge’s ruling allowing Birkhead to take his little girl to the States, providing that he returns with his baby for a June 9 custody hearing.

Arthur’s appeal is unusual to say the least, since she is a grandmother who herself lives in the U.S. Ironically, she is the one who argued that Anna and Daniel be buried in Texas and not the Bahamas. Now, she wants Anna’s child to stay in the Bahamas.

There will be public court hearing tomorrow.

Anna Nicole Smith’s former boyfriend Larry Birkhead said Tuesday that DNA tests have proven he is the father of her infant daughter.Birkhead emerged from a closed court hearing to announce the results. Smith’s companion, Howard K. Stern, has been caring for the girl, Dannielynn, who could inherit a fortune in the wake of her mother’s February death.
