Pimp C, one-half of the veteran Houston rap group UGK, was found dead in an upscale hotel Tuesday. He was 33.
“It is with great regret that I must confirm that Chad Butler aka Pimp C, one-half of the legendary UGK, was in fact discovered dead this morning,” his publicist, Nancy Byron, said in a statement. “Manager Rick Martin is asking that everyone please respect his family and those close to him at this time and refrain from rumors and innuendo.”
hate to sound cold about this but i never heard of “pimp c” before and the “legendary” “UGK” ?!! ,must be a slow news day.
I don’t know about you, but I woulda thunk that a feller named “Pimp C” would give up the ghost rescuing babies from a burning building, or leading a cavalry charge in some epic battle …

Respect is not “shown”. It’s earned. The glorification of the concept of a “pimp” is out of control. This douche used it as a moniker. As if it was something to be PROUD of. Pimps are one of the lowest scum on the face of the earth and to equate one self with that- to proclaim it proudly- is beyond distasteful. So no, I would not show any respect to anyone who calls them self a “pimp”, even if they did just die.
